Suggestion for origin of the word

Pretty sure it comes from this: https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/Reconstruction:Proto-Germanic/fra%C3%BEjan%C4%85

Pre-Germanic had a root prot- / pret- to convey understanding, comprehending (see derived gothic term). Also, in Dutch praten is used more in the sense of talking (between two people), instead of "spreken", which would be 'speaking', as in a speech or so, so this also reinforces the idea of communication and understanding between two (or more) people.
