Quotation-sense mismatch?

The Doyle quotation seems to fit sense 5 ("A person or thing that is seminal and influential"), not sense 1 ("The initial agent that is the cause of all things"). It's not talking about philosophy or theology. 98.170.164.88 12:22, 26 June 2022 (UTC)
