Lewis and Clark

The word appears in Lewis and Clark September 20, 1805, when they are among the Nez Perce Indians, This is before the peak time of Chinook Jargon in the mid 19th century. It is highly likely that the use of the word in Lewis and Clark's Journals was highly influential in spreading the word in English, especially in print. DCDuring TALK 02:27, 29 October 2014 (UTC)
