Preferred Plural edit

Does anyone have any information regarding the preferred plural of this word in general use? It would seem to me that "schemata" would probably be the more correct but I would imagine that "schemas" would gradually become the more common. Any pointers to relevant style guides might be useful. 80.238.1.135 07:23, 9 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

Schemas is definitely standard in the "description of structured data" sense (applied to databases and XML files and such); see PostgreSQL documentation, W3C documentation, Oracle documentation, and so on. But I think schemata is probably preferable in the other senses. (Personally I actually prefer schemata in all senses, but that's just me.) —RuakhTALK 13:39, 9 August 2012 (UTC)Reply
