related to the Danish town Skagen?

I was reading about the history of Skagen, and saw that it was well known for hundreds of years for it's herring industry. Is it possible that there is a link between the name of the town (meaning a ridge on a headland, seemingly) and the Gaelic name for the fish that the town was famous for?
