Obsolete? We use it still in Antwerp in that sense, usually used very pejoratively like a neighbour who poisons cats.
E.g.: "Waarom zien we die kat nooit meer langskomen?" (Why don't we see that cat drop in anymore?)
- "Waarschijnlijk vergeven door de geburen." (Probably poisoned by the neighbours)
