Frederic G[omes] Cassidy and Joan Houston Hall, editors (1985–2013), “R:DARE”, in Dictionary of American Regional English, volumes (please specify |volume=I to VI), Cambridge, Mass., London: Belknap Press of Harvard University Press.

Usage edit

This template may be used in "References" and "Further reading" sections, and on talk pages, to cite editions of the Dictionary of American Regional English.

Parameters edit

The template takes the following positional or named parameters:

  • |1= or |volume= – the volume of the Dictionary to be cited.
  • |2= or |entry= – the entry in the Dictionary to be cited. If this parameter is omitted, the template uses the name of the Wiktionary entry.
  • |3=, |pos=, or |part of speech= – the part of speech of the entry being cited.
  • |4=, |no=, |sense number= - the number of the specific sense being cited if there are multiple senses in the entry.
  • |5=, |page=
    • For multiple pages use |pages= and separate the first and last pages of the range with an en dash, like this: |pages=110–111.
    • For multiple pages, you must also use |pageref= to specify the page number that the template should link to (usually the page on which the Wiktionary entry appears).
  • |6=, |text=, or |passage= – a passage of the dictionary to quote.
  • |chapter= - the chapter of the dictionary where the reference pages belong.
  • |column= or |columns= – the column numbers of the page being cited.
  • |nodot= – by default, the template adds a full stop (period) at the end of the citation. To suppress this punctuation, use |nodot=1 or |nodot=yes.
