This template may be used in Wiktionary entries to format quotations from James Baldwin's work Go Tell It on the Mountain (1970, 1985, 2001, and 2005 versions); the 1st edition (New York, N.Y.: Knopf, 1953; →OCLC) is not currently available online. The template can be used to create a link to online versions of the work at the Internet Archive:

Parameters edit

The template takes the following parameters:

|year= or |year_published= – mandatory in some cases: if quoting from the 1970, 1985, 2001, or 2005 versions, specify |year=1970, |year=1985, etc.
|chapter= – the name of the chapter quoted from. If the page number is specified, this parameter can be omitted as the template will determine the chapter name automatically.
|part= – the part number quoted from in Arabic numerals, from |part=1 to |part=3. If the page number is specified, this parameter can be omitted as the template will determine the part automatically.
|1= or |page=, or |pages= – mandatory in some cases: the page or range of pages quoted from. If quoting a range of pages, note the following:
- Separate the first and last page number of the range with an en dash, like this: |pages=110–111.
- You must also use |pageref= to indicate the page to be linked to (usually the page on which the Wiktionary entry appears).

This parameter must be specified to have the template determine the chapter and part (1–3) quoted from, and to link to an online version of the work.

|2=, |text=, or |passage= – the passage to be quoted.
|brackets= – use |brackets=on to surround a quotation with brackets. This indicates that the quotation either contains a mere mention of a term (for example, "some people find the word manoeuvre hard to spell") rather than an actual use of it (for example, "we need to manoeuvre carefully to avoid causing upset"), or does not provide an actual instance of a term but provides information about related terms.
