Template:RQ:Douay Bible

(please specify |tome=NT, OT1, or OT2) (Douay–Rheims Bible), Doway: Lavrence Kellam, [], →OCLC, (please specify the book of the Bible):

Usage edit

This template may be used in Wiktionary entries to format quotations from the first edition of the Douay-Rheims Bible (1582, 1609, 1610). It can be used to create a link to online versions of the work at the Internet Archive:

Parameters edit

The template takes the following parameters:

  • |1= or |tome=mandatory: the volume quoted from, |tome=NT for the New Testament, |tome=OT1 for the first volume of the Old Testament, |tome=OT2 for the second volume of the Old Testament.
  • |2= or |book=mandatory: the name of the book of the Bible quoted from – see the table below for the full list.
  • |3= or |chapter=mandatory: the chapter of the book quoted in Arabic numerals.
  • |4=, |verse=, or |verses=mandatory: the verse(s) of the chapter quoted in Arabic numerals. If quoting a range of verses, separate the verse numbers with an en dash, like this: |verses=10–11.
  • |5= or |page=, or |pages=mandatory in some cases: the page number(s) to be quoted from. When quoting a range of pages, note the following:
    • Separate the first and last pages of the range with an en dash, like this: |pages=10–11.
    • You must also use |pageref= to specify the page number that the template should link to (usually the page on which the Wiktionary entry appears).
This parameter must be specified to have the template link to the online version of the work.
  • |6=, |text=, or |passage= – the passage quoted from the Bible.
  • |footer= – a comment on the passage quoted.
  • |brackets= – use |brackets=on to surround a quotation with brackets. This indicates that the quotation either contains a mere mention of a term (for example, "some people find the word manoeuvre hard to spell") rather than an actual use of it (for example, "we need to manoeuvre carefully to avoid causing upset"), or does not provide an actual instance of a term but provides information about related terms.
