This template is designed to format the head word and categories of Middle English verbs. It takes the following parameters

head The head word. To be used if different from the page name, or to link to individual words in a page name. {{PAGENAME}}
stem The stem of the verb, usually the infinitive minus the -en ending. This must be specified unless all the inflections are specified manually (see below). none
1 The third-person singular present indicative. none
2 The present participle. none
3 The past participle and simple past. However if 4 is specified with a different value to 3, 3 denotes the simple past, while 4 denotes the past participle. none
4 The past participle. When not specified, it is the same as 3 above, and merged into one link. none

At speken#Middle English, this:


produces this:

speken (third-person singular simple present speketh, present participle spekinge, simple past spak, past participle speken)

(stem is not required in this case, because the individual forms are specified explicitly).
