This template is used to manually specify the pronunciation of a Russian word, in the exceptional cases where {{ru-IPA}} won't work. It is equivalent to {{IPA|lang=ru}} except that certain bots recognize it specially and won't try to replace it with {{ru-IPA}}, as they would do with an invocation of {{IPA|lang=ru}}.
