Random words that deutsch counterparts sound suspiciously similar to. Only very technical or "rustic" (countryside) sounding words that would not be deemed "literary enough" to be included in LEV but likely to be recognized by a good 90%+ of Latvian speakers.

The idea is to boost one's German vocabulary simply based on random borrowings. In a hypothetical scenario this could be an appendix or something, idk...

Since majority are from low German, Nederlands can serve as an ersatz if the hochdeutsch word sounds too different.

  • Racker "brat, rascal" -- rakaris "id."
  • Zettel (< zedel) "receipt at a supermarket" -- cedele "any type of a long bill with many entries"
