About Administrators edit

Administrators on Wiktionary are community members who are able to delete, restore, protect and un-protect pages, as well as block and unblock users.

In order to become an administrator a community member must exhibit the desire and ability:

  1. Further the goals of the project. (do we have a page which succinctly outlines the goals of the project?)
  2. Establish, contribute to, and abide by community consensus.
  3. Work civilly with other members of the community.

Importantly, administrators have no increased status or standing within the community (on paper, at least...). The votes, opinions and actions of administrators have no more weight than those of any other community member, and they are subject to the same policies and expectations that by which all other contributors abide (except when they're not...).

The administrator tools are enabled for community members subject to a vote. The administrator tools will be removed if the bearer demonstrates a pattern of unwillingness or inability to abide by the various tenets of this document, or after a period of extended absence.
