Etymology edit

Compound of zes (six) and the plural form of gehucht (hamlet, rural settlement without a church). Formerly an independent fiefdom which was named after the six hamlets within its territory: Genoenhuis, Gijzenrooi, Hoog Geldrop, Hout, Hulst and Riel.
