Etymology

Inherited from Old Swedish bölmeyrt. Compound of bolma (unkown) +‎ ört (herb). The meaning of bolma in this case is unknown.[1] Possibly related to Welsh bilinuntia and Belenus.[2] See also lake Bolmen whose etymology may be derived from Old Swedish *bolmber (large; expansive). First attested in 1628.[3]
