chemosensitivity
English edit
Etymology edit
Noun edit
chemosensitivity (plural chemosensitivities)
- (medicine) A measure of the sensitivity of a tumour to the effects of an anticancer drug.
- (medicine) A measure of the sensitivity of a microbial sample to the effects of an antimicrobial drug.
Usage notes edit
The microbial sense is less common than the tumor sense; in current usage antibiotic sensitivity is seldom called chemosensitivity, just as antibiotic therapy is seldom called chemotherapy today.
