dominigu
Sardinian edit
Alternative forms edit
- domingu (Campidanese)
Etymology edit
Campidanese alteration of older Sardinian dominica~dominiga (which survive in Nuorese and Logudorese respectively), from Late Latin diēs Dominica (literally “day of the Lord”). The change in gender, which is relatively recent, reflects the influence of Spanish domingo, which has also been borrowed directly as domingu, a form popular in places such as Villacidro and Sant'Antioco.
Pronunciation edit
Noun edit
dominigu m (plural dominigus)
