Nias edit

Etymology edit

From Proto-Malayo-Polynesian *pajay, from Proto-Austronesian *pajay.

Pronunciation edit

Noun edit

fakhe (mutated form vakhe)

  1. rice (general term)

Usage notes edit

Unlike most other East and Southeast Asian languages, Nias does not distinguish between paddy and cooked rice. For the husked raw grain, böra is used.
