Adjective

hunderæd (neuter hunderæd, plural and definite singular attributive hunderædde)

  1. (informal) very scared, very frightened

Usage notes

edit

Like ræd, hunderæd sometimes (rarely) unanticipatedly appears undeclinedly when predicative for a plural noun, as in these examples:

  • 1956, Hans Aage Kaad, Korea kaldte: en danskers beretning fra fem års arbejde som welfare-officer indenfor FN's sociale hjælpearbejde i Korea:
De var hunderæd for partisanerne, der som oftest var bedre udrustet samt bestialske i deres krigsførelse.
They were scared as hell of the partisans, who were usually better-equipped and, additionally, bestial in their waging of war.
