     The hypotrochanteric fossa is extensive SI and ML, merging across a wide area with the gluteal crest (S1 Fig ), rather than being a distinct and narrow fossa that distinguishes the lateral wall of the femur from the weakly developed proximo-lateral buttress, as is typically seen when this feature is developed in AMH femora.
