Turkish edit

Etymology edit

Borrowed from Mongolian ᠬᠣᠢᠲᠤ (qoitu, behind; to the north).[1][2] Compare kuz and kuzey for semantics. Eyüboğlu instead suggests a borrowing from Ancient Greek κοїθε (koїthe, seaside).[3]
