Collins, The Historical Relationships of the Languages of Central Maluku, Indonesia (1983): Apparently no vowel change took place in sequences of ai, although the loss of intervocalic consonants occurred at different stages in the development of Alune. There is, however, one occurrence of vowel change: *waSiR > kwele water.
