Borrowed from Slavic (compare Polish lazuryt, Russian лазурит (lazurit)) or English lazurite, all ultimately from Medieval Latin lazur (lapis lazuli), from Arabic لَازَوَرْد (lāzaward), from Persian لاژورد (lâžvard).
