From Proto-Semitic *mṯ̣ʔ- (“to reach”). Compare Biblical Hebrew מָצָא (mɔṣɔ́ʔ, “to find”).
Pronunciation

- 𒆠𒄿 𒈠𒍣𒄿 [kī maṣi] ― ki-i ma-ṣi₂-i ― how much?
- 𒈠𒆷 𒈠𒍪𒌑 [mala maṣûm] ― ma-la ma-ṣu₂-u₂-um ― as much as there is, as far as it extends
- 𒈠𒆷 𒊮𒁉𒅎 𒈠𒍪𒌑𒌝 [mala libbim maṣûm] ― ma-la ŠA₃-bi-im ma-ṣu₂-u₂-um ― to do what one wants, to have full discretion
