Of interest, a variety of viruses, including Epstein-Barr virus (EBV), parvovirus B19, and varicella zoster virus, that have been previously suggested to be related to the pathogenesis of SAID and were included in the viral array, were not found to be differentially expressed in individuals affected with SAID. Subgroup analyses selected for monozygosity, pediatric age, RA, and IIM demonstrated similar patterns of differential viral gene expression.
