Etymology edit

From Proto-Hmong-Mien *ntshjamX (blood). Cognate with Iu Mien nziaamv; outside of Hmong-Mien, compare Proto-Mon-Khmer *jhaam (id), whence Khmer ឈាម (chiəm, id).[1]
