poophyte (plural poophytes)

  1. A plant that grows best in grass-covered meadows.
    • 1905, Journal of Botany, British and Foreign[1], Robert Hardwicke, page 335:
Passing through the heliophilous poads and poophytes, we arrived at a forewold abounding in driodads and sciophytes, the cyriodoche of the latter being somewhat interfered with by pyrium and ecballium; further on, hylads, hylodads, and hylophytes diversified the scene.
