  1. (medicine, biochemistry) A liposome into which one or more proteins have been inserted, usually by artificial means
    • 2005, Larry Barton, Structural and Functional Relationships in Prokaryotes[1], page 76:
      The loading of proteins into a proteoliposome is accomplished by adding the chemicals to the buffer at the time the protein is added.
