- rhotacism (mispronouncing of /r/)
Usage notes
edit- The Czech r is pronounced similarly to the way it's pronounced in Scots or in Scottish English. Ráčkování means pronouncing it more like it is pronounced in French, but the sound is faint rather than sharp. As with lisping, this is not (in Czech) a matter of register, but a speech impediment - people pronounce it thus because they can't pronouce it "correctly" (or because they are, for instance, imitating somebody else).
