Albanian edit

Etymology edit

From shkoj, literally described as a 'walking tree', with a similar sense development to bredh.[1] Possibly cognate to Old English scaga (bush). Alternatively from *shkor- +‎ -zë, the former the base of shkorre and the latter a collective suffix. More at shkorre.

Noun edit

shkozë f (plural shkoza, definite shkoza, definite plural shkozat)

  1. hornbeam
