skerom
Russenorsk
editAlternative forms
editThe form skirom is also known, but only in a song context sung by a Russian, when the sound e became unstressed (because of the rules of the Russian speech when the ending -om became stressed, but probably only for rhyming purposes).
Etymology
editProbably from Russian шкерить (škeritʹ, “to gut fish, remove the scales from fish”) or Norwegian Nynorsk rotskjere (“to gut fish”).
Verb
editskerom
- to gut fish
