From Proto-Albanian *ϑat(Vr)-, from Proto-Indo-European *ḱeh₃-(i-) ‎(to sharpen, whet). Cognate with Latin catus ‎(acutus, acute) and Sanskrit शित ‎(śitá-)[1].
