(usually in the definite "tjugohundratalet") the twenty hundreds (2000s), the years 2000 to 2099; almost the same period as tjugoförsta seklet ("the 21st century") which, however, is the years 2001 to 2100 (although a century in Swedish is used to be counted from a year 100x to a year 100x + 99 rather than from a year 100x + 1 to a year 100y)

Usage notes

tvåtusental(et) is normally used as a synonym. However, only the years 2000 to 2999 should be referred to as tvåtusentalet ("the two thousands") while the years 2000 to 2099 should be referred to as tjugohundratalet ("the twenty hundreds") to avoid confusion. To avoid confusion between the years 2000 to 2099 or 2999 and the years 2000 to 2009, the ten-year-period should be referred to as tjugo-nollnolltalet ("the twenty-ohohs"), or simply nollnolltalet ("the ohohs"/"the 00s").
