  1. Apparently vitreous; having a vitreous aspect.
    • 1917, Hospital Corps Quarterly, volumes 3-11, page 7:
      A very hard, vitreouslike substance, composed of hexagonal prisms, with a common direction at right angles to the dentoenamel junction or line marking the union of the enamel and dentin.
    • 1954, Franklin John Van Antwerpen, Nuclear Engineering, Part II, page 71:
      However, if the hydroxide was allowed to dry at room temperature, it was reduced to approximately one-third of its original solid volume, forming a very hard, vitreouslike material.
