voltatype (plural voltatypes)

  1. (obsolete) An electrotype.
    • 1843, Rosina Maria Zornlin, What is a voltaic battery?, page 103:
Sometimes, however, a rather different mode of proceeding is adopted in forming voltatypes. Instead of a plate, or rod of zinc, the positive electrode consists of copper, whilst the negative electrode is formed of platinum, silver, or some other metal, less liable to become oxidated than copper.
