Etymology edit

A rare Katharevousa compound, constructed[1] as an alternative for the Hellenistic grammar term αὐτοπαθής (autopathḗs, reflexive).
Compound from the ancient ταὐτός (tautós, the same) ταὐτο- + Hellenistic Koine μεταβατός (metabatós), from μεταβαίνω (metabaínō, pass over from one place to another). From μετα- (meta-, meta-) μετά (metá) + βατός (batós, passable) < βαίνω (baínō).
