Etymology edit

From Proto-Slavic *gybati. Etymologically identical with Old Church Slavonic гꙑбати (gybati, to perish), whence modern Bulgarian заги́вам (zagívam), поги́вам (pogívam). Modern semantics attested in prefixed прѣгꙑбати (prěgybati, to bend, to shove).
