Borrowed from Middle Iranian: compare Middle Persian [Book Pahlavi needed] (stwl /⁠stūr⁠/, trustee, curator, guardian), Bactrian αβη-στορογο-παδδιστο (abē-storogo-paddisto, without the obligations of a vassal), possibly also Gandhari [Kharoshthi needed] (sturaka-, a title of nobility).[1][2][3]
