Borrowed from Classical Persian نشئه (naš'a, “drunk; intoxicated”), from Arabic نَشْأَة (našʔa), from the root ن ش ء (n-š-ʔ). Compare Assamese নিচা (nisa), Bengali নেশা (neśa), Gujarati નશો (naśo).
