Borrowed from Classical Persian فریاد (faryād, firyād). First attested as Old Marathi 𑘣𑘨𑘰𑘟𑘲 (pharādī). Compare Varhadi फर्याद (pharyād), Ahirani फिरयाद (phiryād), Hindustani فَریَادْ (faryād) / फ़रियाद (fariyād).
