Usage notes edit

A law requires that the feminine indicator หญิง (yǐng) be added when the holder of the rank is a woman, as พลเอกหญิง (pon-èek-yǐng).^[1]
Generals (general officers of all grades) are referred to as นายพล.
Inferior ranks of general officer include พลโท (“lieutenant general”), พลตรี (“major general”), and พลจัตวา (“brigadier general”).
