Learned borrowing from Sumerian 𒀭𒉎𒂂𒄷 (AN.IM.DUGUDMUŠEN /⁠Anzû⁠/, a mythical dragon-like bird), origin unknown, perhaps from 𒀭 (An, heaven) + 𒍪 (zu, to know).
