Proto-Semitic

Etymology

A possible Afro-Asiatic cognate is found in Egyptian (New Kingdom) qr.tj "horns (dual)". A possible loan relation with Indo-European *ḱer- (horn) has also been suggested. Proponents of Nostratic combine the Indo-European and the Semitic root via a proto-Nostratic *kErV.

  1. horn
