  • Rhymes: -aːris

Adjective edit

Arisch (not comparable)

  1. (linguistics, historical) Aryan; Indo-Aryan or Indo-Iranian
  2. (historical, otherwise offensive, white supremacy, see usage note) Aryan (pertaining to a supposed white subrace believed in by scientific racists)

Usage notes edit

  • The scientific racist sense relating to a supposed white subrace is strongly associated with fascism, in particular National Socialism, and is only considered inoffensive in descriptions of such beliefs, for instance in historical texts, or in certain kinds of facetious use.
