I have re-organised this page according to the three SV symbols in the original etymology subsection. Sources used for etymology, definitions and derived terms include the original entry, SV symbols used in existing derived terms on Wiktionary,,[1],[2] and Dictionnaire Annamite-Français — langue officielle et langue vulgaire (Jean Bonet), 1899-1900.
One definition of nguyen (yuan, the currency) is a doublet of vien but it also has its own SV symbol according to [3]. I’m not sure exactly how to deal with this and it may need its own etymology per the other doublets of vien: yên (yen) and uôn (won).
I have included two words whose etymology I could not determine in a final See also section. If someone can, please add them to the correct derived terms. Gavinkwhite (talk) 03:51, 24 June 2022 (UTC)Reply
