Hi.

"citation" at trap edit

Finding a dictionary that just says "trap means X" is not a citation (in Wiktionary terms) because it isn't real usage of the word; see use-mention distinction. (Otherwise dictionaries could happily cite each other on words nobody uses.) It is more appropriate as a reference, in the References section, i.e. "this other dictionary agrees on the term". Thank you for the notice. I have removed the "citation." As a side question a previous RFV failed but a user is re-adding the definition entry. Am I in the wrong or should I contact a mod? Awhiteduck (talk) 22:57, 20 December 2021 (UTC)Reply

Dawg, it easily can be considered offensive to some people. I am not sure how you disagree with that since it's so obvious it would be considered disrespectful that term was used against people like transgender women. –MJLTalk 20:04, 3 January 2022 (UTC)Reply

@MJL: Any term about a male or a man is generally considered offensive when used on a trans woman. This doesn't make the word itself offensive. For a word itself to be labeled offensive does it not make sense that it would be required to be labeled offensive by people outside of an already offensive context, otherwise almost every word would have the label, especially every gendered word.
