I framtiden vill Nvidia gå över till en mer avancerad form som kallas banspårning (path tracing), […] Banspårning används sedan länge inom 3d-rendering för film och tv, och går ut på att ett stort antal ”ljusstrålar” skickas från varje pixel i bilden och får reflekteras och brytas tills de når en ljuskälla. Sedan beräknas ljusets styrka och färg utifrån alla dessa reflektioner och brytningar, och pixlarnas slutgiltiga färg beräknas som ett genomsnitt av alla dessa strålar.
