Borrowed from Hiligaynon batsoy, from Hokkien, either 肉碎 (bah-chhùi, minced meat, literally meat pieces) or (bah-chúi, literally meat water). See also chop suey, Hokkien 肉脞麵肉脞面 (bah-chhò-mī).
