Etymology edit

From Ottoman Turkish دیشمك (deşmek), دشمك (deşmek), from Proto-Turkic *teĺ- (to make holes).[1] Cognate with Azerbaijani deşmək, Uzbek teshmoq, Kyrgyz тешүү (teşüü), Yakut тэс (tes, to pierce through). According to Nişanyan[2] it is related to delmek.
