  1. (rail transport) Of a link between the tracks of two railway companies that meet end on, forming a through line, at a point called an end-on junction.
    • 1939 December, “Notes on the Maryport & Carlisle Railway”, in Railway Magazine, page 417:
      Beyond the station an end-on junction was made with the L.N.W.R., which worked most of the M. & C. trains on to Workington and Whitehaven.
